It’s Friday and time to de-stress…take time to wonder, it’s the holidays! As the Creative Lead at Absher Design, I constantly deviate from my research path to find things that ignite my creative spark. Recently, I came across this creative video that shows a perfect example of how posting something creative and fun can actually end up landing you over 8 million views worldwide.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEdRLlqdgA4&w=420&h=315]This video by Kyle Lambert amazed and puzzled me—and, I love a good puzzle! Was it (as the artist stated) an original realistic finger-painted illustration on an iPad? Or, was it a scanned, realistic photograph that had been deconstructed, then filmed backwards to look like it had evolved realistically by hand? I’m not sure, but I often wonder where our love of puzzles or fooling the eye began, and why it has always kept us so intrigued.
Graphics that amaze remind me of one of my personal favorite illustrators, M.C. Escher. I could get lost in his illustrations trying to unravel it’s mysteries and amazing ability to fool the eye. He used both the left and right side of his brain to create something uniquely wonderful—ultimately combining the tangible architectural angles and planes, with the intangible fantasy world of imagination.
