Welcome to the Woot Guide!
This weeks Woot Guide outlines “How-To” on tweeting.
First things first — what is a tweet?
According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, to “tweet” is to post a message to the Twitter online message service. It’s really just a fancy term Twitter coined that relates directly back to their company and their brand.
Next up — using hashtags: what do they even mean? What do they symbolize?
“The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages.”
“A word with the symbol # in front of it, used especially in social media and microblogging to identify or search for subjects of interest”
The Wonderful World of #hashtags, Deconstructed
#hashtags: they can be totally confusing, but also very helpful for individuals and businesses alike.
Hashtags allow users from all over the web and all over the world to not only connect with each other in a single click or keystroke, but also to dig deeper into keywords, topics and subjects of interest.
Hashtags ultimately direct you to what is most popular, what is more recent, and what is currently “trending.”
So, what is trending?
— Trending ultimately translates to what is currently popular. It is a modern derivative of the verb “to trend.” This social media phenomena occurs when a topic or story literally becomes an online trend for millions of users around the globe to see at the same time.
Okay—enough with the jargon. Here is a great example of hashtags used effectively and properly by the team here at Absher Design.
