The STARability rebranding, in the “Organization or Cause Promotion” category, and the Humane Society of Naples gala creative, in the “Fundraising Events & Initiatives” category, entries were deemed to have lasting positive public service benefits within the community. The award-winning work was showcased at the Angel Award show held during the AAF 4th District “Aditude” Conference on May 3, 2019, in Orlando, Florida.
ABOUT THE ANGEL AWARDS
Conducted by the American Advertising Federation Fourth District, the Angel Award Competition honors the very best in public service advertising. It combines two missions of the organization: to utilize industry expertise to address community issues and to celebrate and honor advertising excellence. Entries are open to all advertising service providers, public service organizations, and special interest causes and groups located in Florida and the Caribbean.
We won a Silver Angel Award in both the “Fundraising Events & Initiatives” category for the Humane Society of Naples, and in the “Organization or Cause Promotion” category for STARability Foundation Rebranding Campaign.
The “Fundraising Events & Initiatives” Silver Angel Award was a result of the 2018 “Krewe de Paws” Gala design and marketing campaign. The Gala is an annual fundraiser the Humane Society of Naples hosts to raise money, support, and awareness for their mission. To stand out in a gala abundant community, we decided to take a fun, witty, colorful and engaging yet tastefully elegant tongue-in-cheek approach. The “Krewe de Paws” Pet Lovers Gala royalty-themed campaign of graphic design elements began with the creation of the “Krewe de Paws” logo, save-the-date gala postcard, the gala print ads, invitation, and the consistency continued with a digital invitation, an email campaign, and branded logo use during the night. The graphics designed in royal purple and metallic gold filigree printed as a two-color project for significant cost savings.
In addition to selling individual tickets through the invitation, we also created a unique belly band that acted as a decree announcement of the various sponsorship levels available in support of the mission. The goal was to create a humorous but sophisticated approach to this annual Pet Lovers Gala with the new theme “Krewe de Paws” where the masked guest in formal attire could bring their pets to this themed event designed by Rufino Hernadez of Garden District. The graphic design had to be memorable, and due to the high success rate of this gala, it’s safe to say the design strategy did exceedingly well and helped to facilitate the generosity of a community.
The Silver Angel Award in the Organization or Cause Promotion category, was awarded for our work done for STARability Foundation. Formerly known as the Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled, STARability sought help from us to change their name and start fresh with a re-branding of their organization. We created a new brand identity, including ads, social media, emails, digital/print newsletters, out-of-home staff uniforms/pridewear/fleet graphics, web banners and content blog, direct mailers, community awareness events, cross-promotional branding, collateral, stationery, press releases, and photography coverage. STARability Foundation’s old name did not accurately represent their mission, and we helped them realize their goals to their fullest potential.
